Three days after their Game 1 clash at TD Garden, it’s the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics locking horns once again for Game 2 of their first-round series. Miami Heat +14.5 over Boston Celtics (-110)

The Heat did get blown out in Game 1 by 20 points, but for stretches they were able to stay competitive against the Celtics. They’ve had 3 days since that loss to think things through and make adjustments, and head coach Erik Spoelstra is experienced enough to find weaknesses in this Boston team. One encouraging stat for Miami ahead of Game 2 is the fact that they’ve covered the spread 9 times in the last 13 meetings with Boston.

Tyler Herro was a big disappointment on Sunday, finishing with just 11 points on 4-for-13 from the field. You’d expect better from the number-one scoring option on this team, especially since he’s averaging 21.2 points per game in the last 5 regular-season meetings. The key for Miami will be to limit Jayson Tatum here. The hard foul from Caleb Martin sent out a warning, let’s see how Tatum responds. Let’s roll with Miami to keep things close in Game 2.

Kristaps Porzingis over 18.5 points (-102)

Porzingis was unstoppable in the series opener, shooting 53.8% from the field and 50% from downtown. He finished with 18 points, but I think he’ll be able to push that to at least 20 here. Miami’s defense is well aware they cannot do anything about the 7-foot-2 unicorn and they’ll rather focus their defense on the likes of Tatum and Brown in my opinion. KP averaged 20.3 points per game in 3 regular-season meetings against Miami while playing just 27.3 minutes per game. He is the ultimate cheat code for this Celtics team. Without him in the lineup, they are still a championship contender, but when he plays it’s borderline unfair to the other team. I’m counting on a productive night from him in Game 2.

Nikola Jovic over 1.5 made threes (+118)

Although he finished with a team-worst -25 on the +/- in Game 1, Jovic still played a big role for the Miami Heat in the absence of Jimmy Butler. The Heat are desperate for some offense here and I believe Jovic has been consistent enough to warrant a bet here. He drained 2-of-6 threes in Game 1, and over his last 10 games he’s averaging 11.3 points per game on a more-than-solid 49.4% from the field and over 37% from three-point land. He’s also averaging 1.9 made threes per game during that stretch and, interestingly enough, 4 of 5 games in which he has cleared this line happened on the road. Let’s hope the Heat get him going early here.
