The San Francisco 49ers have been the favorites all season out of the NFC. After the Eagles stumbled in the second half of the season, it felt as though their place in the Super Bowl was almost imminent. There are no glaring weaknesses in the 49ers, but a few areas where doubt can creep in. For me, it’s an obvious one in Brock Purdy. Can he live up to the moment and play mistake-free football? The Chiefs’ secondary will be the best he’s faced since the Baltimore Ravens in Week 15 and that was the worst performance of his career. The other area is San Francisco’s pass rush. It will be interesting to see how Mahomes handles the pressure (or lack thereof) on Sunday night. In 11 career postseason games (really 10 since the one against GB he only played 14% of snaps), Samuel has hit this line in 8 of 11. Purdy being in his first Super Bowl further amplifies the need to get the ball into the hands of Kyle Shanahan’s playmakers to take some pressure off. This line will include any trick plays and backwards passes should the NFL be kind enough to grade them correctly. You can pivot to over 15.5 rush yards if the juice becomes too high for your liking, but this is the safer play. 1u

The MVP on the KC side seems pretty straightforward: Patrick Mahomes or possibly Travis Kelce. Maybe Isiah Pacheco, but that’s doubtful in my eyes. On the SF side of things, it feels like an open playing field. Purdy has thrown for 3+ TDs in 5 of 16 games this season and the KC secondary is arguably the best in the league. CMC is sitting at +450 on most books and I think has a real shot at it given his propensity for the end zone and ability to fill up a stat sheet in rush/receiving yards.
However, I want to take a small flyer here on Deebo Samuel. He’s another guy I can see Shanahan using in both rush/receiving situations and he has the ability to make explosive plays and change the momentum. I actually like him being used more as the RB2 than Elijah Mitchell. In 10 postseason games (I’m not counting the GB one), he’s had 165 total yards, 110 total yards and 98 total yards twice. He would likely need 125+ and 1 TD to be in consideration, which is certainly in his wheelhouse and we’re getting it at 33-1. It’s worth the sprinkle.
