Capitals vs Hurricanes Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Washington Capitals head south to battle the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday night at Lenovo Center in Raleigh. The Caps picked up a 4-3 win in Boston on Tuesday night, and LW Alex Ovechkin was good for a power-play goal to inch closer to Wayne Gretzky. He is just four goals away from tying the Great One for the all-time NHL lead. The Caps halted an 0-2-1 slide with the win against the Bruins. Despite the little skid, Washington is still 10-3-1 in 14 games since March 3, and it is in full control of the Metropolitan Division, 11 points clear of the Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes picked up a 6-4 win against the New York Islanders last time out, led by Seth Jarvis with two goals. The Canes have won three of the past four games, and they’re in good shape to lock up home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs with a second-place finish in the division. Carolina is seven points clear of the New Jersey Devils with eight games after Wednesday. New Jersey has already played 76 games, so it has six games left. Still, don’t expect the Canes to take it easy, even against the first-place Capitals. They’ll feed off the buzz of the crowd in Raleigh to get a key two points Wednesday.
Hurricanes ML (-170) at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
