As we get set for a huge weekend of hockey, tonight provides a light 3-game slate in the NHL. However, we get to see the likes of Connor Bedard, the most hyped rookie since Connor McDavid, who is also on the ice to close out the night. While our NHL prop bet picks for today won’t focus on the Connors, we’re targeting skaters in the 2 earlier games, so let’s get into our best bets. The first matchup of the night may not exactly be an Eastern Conference Finals preview, but it’s one where a particular skater should be licking his chops. The Buffalo Sabres are in Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets, and Tage Thompson should remember this matchup well. Last season, he had a historical night as he scored 5 goals, 4 of which came in the 1st period!
Teammate Jeff Skinner came through for us on Wednesday night, and now it’s time for Thompson to do the same. We wouldn’t mind adding Connor Bedard to go over his shots on goal to your NHL prop bet picks for tonight, but we have our eyes on a Winnipeg Jets skater instead. Like the Jackets, the Blackhawks struggle to keep teams from finding the back of their net, as they allow the 5th-most goals per game in the league. Admittedly, the Jets haven’t exactly been taking off in that department, but it’s starting to turn around.
They just scored 6 goals in their most recent game and 13 across their last 3 games. Kyle Connor is the one who generally finds the back of the net, but it’s Mark Scheifele who is leading the team in overall points with 47 through 48 games. Surprisingly enough, he was unable to record a point when these teams last met, but that’s a rarity for most point leaders when facing Chicago. With the Jets’ offense heating up and a great matchup, the second of our NHL prop bet picks for today is on Mark Scheifele to record an assist.
