I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. The weekend may have capped off with just 3 games yesterday, but with arguably the most thrilling Stadium Series game in history, it certainly did not disappoint. Now, we don’t have to wait long for more action at all, as the week begins with a great 10-game NHL slate on Presidents’ Day. To get you set for it, we’ve broken down each matchup and found our favorite spots for player props. With it being a US holiday, we have nearly all afternoon games, so let’s get right into our NHL prop bet picks. Along with our best NHL player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Quinn Hughes over 0.5 assists (-115)

Odds available at time of publishing. Playable to -130.

It’s not quite the first puck drop of the day, but for our prop bets the action on the ice gets started in Minnesota with the Wild hosting the Vancouver Canucks at 2:00 pm ET. Heading into the season, this looked to be a matchup between one Stanley Cup contender (Wild) and one playoff hopeful (Canucks). Well, that script has completely flipped with Vancouver leading the entire Western Conference. One of the primary reasons for the Canucks’ turnaround is Quinn Hughes.

He recently co-captained an All-Star team with his brother, Luke, and has been having a fantastic year. Quinn has 66 points through 56 games, with 54 of them being assists. He loves feeding JT Miller, who could also be considered for NHL prop bet picks today, but we’re going to focus on the defenseman. Minnesota is out of a playoff spot at the moment largely due to their goaltending struggles, which should lead to plenty of goals for the NHL’s 3rd-highest scoring team — the Canucks.

Evander Kane over 0.5 points (-105)

Odds available at time of publishing. Playable to -120.

Another matchup we have our eyes on is quite a mismatch on paper. We have the Edmonton Oilers, a true contender, facing off against the Arizona Coyotes, a team that has been perennially one of the worst over the past few years. To make matters worse for the ‘Yotes, they were just on the ice last night in Colorado taking on the Avalanche. After dealing with Nathan MacKinnon and company, they now have to deal with Connor McDavid and the boys.

Of course, we expect another big night from McDavid, but we’re going to grab a great price on a teammate to simply record a point. Evander Kane has been a great 3rd piece alongside McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, which also provides tons of opportunities for points. A team that is often synonymous with the Coyotes is the Anaheim Ducks. Well, when the Oilers faced the Ducks earlier this month, Kane scored a hat-trick. We may not see that today, but his shot has been fantastic this season. Whether it’s him scoring or linking up with McDavid, we’re adding Kane to record a point to our NHL prop bet picks.
