To get us set for a monster Thursday night on the ice, we have a rather calm 3-game NHL slate today. However, that certainly doesn’t mean that there isn’t value to be had. With fewer options, we completely understand if there aren’t many puck lines, money lines or over/unders that you love. That’s why we’re here with our best NHL prop bet picks, and we’re focused on the 2 earlier games of the night. Along with our best NHL player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.
Travis Konecny over 3.5 shots on goal (-105)
Odds available at time of publishing. Playable to -120.
As promised, we’re getting started with early action, and the first game of the night takes place in Philadelphia with the Flyers hosting the Montreal Canadiens. These may not be teams that are the class of the Eastern Conference, but that also means they have weaknesses to exploit. Specifically, we’re focused on the perennially poor defense of Montreal. They’re currently allowing the 4th-most shots per game, which sets up perfectly for a skater like Travis Konecny.
The right winger has 136 shots on goal through 40 games and gets to face this Habs’ defense on home ice. It’s not as if he needs the home-ice advantage either. In each of his last 2 games against Montreal, he’s recorded 6 shots on goal. As if that wasn’t enough, in the Flyers’ 4 games this month, he’s recorded 6, 5, 7 and 5 shots on goal. Therefore, Travis Konecny to have at least 4 shots on goal is the first of our NHL prop bet picks for tonight.
Matt Duchene over 0.5 assists (+130)
Odds available at time of publishing. Playable to -160.
Half an hour after the puck-drop in Philly, we turn our attention to Dallas where the Stars play the Central Division-rival Minnesota Wild for the 2nd time in 3 nights. They came away with a 4-0 victory on the road 2 nights ago, and now on home ice, they should be even more dominant. That’s because just like last season, they’re one of the highest-scoring teams at home. At nearly 4 goals per game, they’re the 3rd-best when in their own arena, and we’re actually taking an approach outside their superstars like Jason Robertson.
As a former Nashville Predator, Matt Duchene is all too familiar with the Wild, and in the best way. Prior to his last game against Minnesota with the Preds, he recorded at least 2 points in 5 straight games against the Wild — each of which included at least 1 assist, and you can get that prop at plus-money odds. Then, in his first game against them with Dallas earlier this season, he had another 2-point game with an assist. With all that in mind, we’re closing out our NHL prop bet picks with Matt Duchene to record an assist.
