New Jersey Devils ML (+110) over Colorado Avalanche

We mentioned that the Maple Leafs vs Oilers may be a Stanley Cup Finals preview, and the same could be said about this matchup. The Avs are the defending champs and are putting things together at the right time. They’re 7-1-2 in their last 10, so you may be wondering why we’re backing the Devils. New Jersey has no doubt been the surprise story of the season since the first couple of weeks. That’s continued with the MVP-caliber season of Jack Hughes.

The 21-year-old has the 9th-most points in the league with 74, and that’s with missing a few games. Goals were difficult to come by when these teams met earlier this season, and that’s an understatement. The Devils snuck away with a 1-0 win. So, while it may not have been a convincing win, they’ve proven they can go toe to toe with the champs. This will also be the first game since acquiring Timo Meier from the San Jose Sharks. With an added piece on the ice, the Devils can take down the Avs again.

Washington Capitals -1.5 (+135) over Anaheim Ducks

We’re headed even further west for our next play. You may be surprised to hear that this will be a revenge game, but that’s the outlook for the Caps. Alex Ovechkin and company were upset by the Ducks just last week, but that’s not something that should be expected. Even Anaheim’s recent win over the Chicago Blackhawks involved some lucky deflections, and that’s nothing to be proud of.

Regardless, the Ducks have been allowing the most goals per game this season, and a Caps team slowly getting healthier can take advantage. The upset last week was Ovechkin’s first game back, so we expect him to be in more of a groove after scoring a goal on Sunday. Washington also had a great Saturday, crushing the New York Rangers 6-3. That’s a huge momentum-builder, as the Caps are fighting for their postseason lives. With plenty of work to do for a playoff spot, the Ducks should get the best version of Washington this time around.

Carolina Hurricanes 3-way ML (+110) over Vegas Golden Knights

Our final play is yet again out west, and once again is a matchup that fans could argue is a potential Stanley Cup Finals preview. The Hurricanes are leading the Metro Division, while the Golden Knights are leading the Pacific. These teams tend to not get as much attention as the likes of the Bruins and Oilers, but that’s because their brand of hockey isn’t nearly as exciting.

The Hurricanes are as stout as it gets on defense, which is bad news for a Vegas team that was just shut out in their most recent matchup. They also lost their game prior to that on home ice and even lost to the Blackhawks just over a week ago. The Knights certainly aren’t a bad team, but Carolina is simply a juggernaut right now. They’re 8-2-0 in their last 10 games and have been resting since Saturday. Carolina has also only allowed more than 2 goals just once in their last 6 games. This would have been a revenge game for Max Pacioretty, but we’ll still trust the Hurricanes to get the job done for him while he looks on.
