I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. If you have looked ahead to Tuesday’s action on the ice, you noticed an exciting night in the NHL. We have a great 12-game slate, with 7 games in the early window. After breaking down each matchup, I have pieced together my 3 favorite plays for a mega parlay. We are getting things started with 2 of the first games and finishing things off with the nightcap. There were plenty of matchups to analyze, so let’s get into it.

Florida Panthers -1.5 (-115) over Columbus Blue Jackets

Let’s get things started down in South Beach with the Panthers taking on the Blue Jackets. Florida isn’t exactly on pace to win the Presidents’ Trophy for the NHL’s best record again, but it is still a more complete team than Columbus. Had the Jackets not pulled off a couple of wins recently, the odds for this play would be even more expensive. Regardless, not even having the puck line at plus odds is very telling.

Despite winning their last 2 games, the Jackets are still sitting at the bottom of the Metro Division. They were also at home for both of those wins and will now be on the road. Columbus allows 4 goals per game on the road (2nd most in the league) and 4.07 goals per game overall, which is also the 2nd most. The last time the Jackets were away from home, they lost 4-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Although the Panthers were recently upset over the weekend, their home game prior was a convincing 5-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings. We only need them to win by 2 goals for this play, which they should do in a great bounce-back spot.

New York Islanders ML (+185) over Boston Bruins

We only need a win of any kind for our second play — and at great plus-money odds. It may seem like a surprising pick given how dominant the Bruins have been this season. However, the Islanders are no stranger to pulling off big upsets. The New Jersey Devils are right behind Boston with a 21-5-1 record, and New York upset them on the road Friday night. They had a letdown spot after that game, but that’s exactly the spot the Bruins find themselves in on Tuesday. Their 14-game home winning streak was snapped by the Vegas Golden Knights, but they recently got their revenge by heading out to Sin City and taking them down.

We correctly predicted that matchup, and feel as though we have a read on this one. The Bruins will be traveling cross country back to Boston following that emotional win and may experience that same letdown spot the Islanders recently did. New York also has a goaltender in Ilya Sorokin that can rival the Bruins’ strong goaltending. His .925 save percentage is just 2 spots behind Boston’s Linus Ullmark’s .941 percent among goalies with more than 10 starts, which should allow the Islanders to pull off a low-scoring upset.

San Jose Sharks -1.5 (+155) over Arizona Coyotes

Our mega parlay caps off with what is also the nightcap of the NHL slate. These Western Conference foes aren’t overly impressive, but it doesn’t mean we can’t capitalize on the matchup. The Coyotes will likely be riding high after their recent performances, but their wins also came at home. They returned back to Arizona after a ridiculously-long 14-game road stretch and enjoyed the homecoming. However, their Sunday win was an overtime victory against a struggling Philadelphia Flyers team.

Now they also have to once again go on the road for this matchup. Again, the Sharks aren’t incredible either, but they are coming off of a 6-1 smackdown of the Anaheim Ducks. That game was also back on Friday night, meaning San Jose will be plenty rested for this contest. There will likely be a lot of goals scored in this matchup given the poor goaltending on both sides, but the Sharks boast the deeper team to capitalize on that. They have 4 skaters with more or just below a point-per-game, which should allow them to take care of Arizona.

Tuesday’s NHL mega parlay (12/13)

Panthers -1.5 (-115)

Islanders ML (+185)

Sharks -1.5 (+155)

Parlay odds: +1258
