We’ve arrived at NFL Week 9 and the quest for a Super Bowl is as wide-open as its been in some time. We had plenty of chaos during the Week 8 slate, including the Broncos knocking off the Chiefs and the 49ers dropping their third straight game. That just goes to show you that nothing is a gimme in the NFL, and I wouldn’t expect that to change anytime soon. Make sure you keep checking our NFL predictions as we add our picks on the side and total for every game throughout the week.
Meanwhile, we currently boast a 27-18 NFL best bets record so don’t forget to give those a look as well. For now, let’s break down the NFL Week 0 opening lines and our best early bet to make.

Best early bet for NFL Week 9: Kansas City Chiefs -2.5 over Miami Dolphins (-110)
Death, taxes and Patrick Mahomes covering the spread as a favorite of under a field goal. That’s been a constant in the NFL since Mahomes became the full-time starter and the Chiefs began to garner a ton of respect in the betting market. It’s no secret that Kansas City has struggled to cover big numbers over the course of the last few seasons, but the Chiefs thrive in this role where they only need to win by a field goal for their backers to get to the window. In fact, for his career, Mahomes is 14-4-1 against the spread as an underdog or favorite of under a field goal.
I think we’re getting a bit of value on Kansas City this week coming off a puzzling loss at Denver. However, that was still a divisional road game and we now know that Mahomes was dealing with a bad case of the flu on Sunday. Things should come much easier against a Dolphins defense that has a ton of injuries at the moment and was hardly any good to begin with this season. Miami’s offense has looked incredible against mediocre or bad teams, but the Dolphins have been thrashed by the only 2 competent teams they’ve played this season. Both the Bills and Eagles moved the ball at will and kept Miami’s offense at bay, and I’d expect a similar performance from Kansas City this week.
