Best early bet for NFL Week 17: Carolina Panthers +7.5 over Jacksonville Jaguars (-110)
On the surface, hitching your wagon to the Panthers isn’t the safest thing in the world. Upon further inspection, though, getting them plus more than a touchdown’s worth of points is a great bet to make in Week 17. In the last 2 weeks, Carolina has defeated Atlanta and pushed Green Bay to the brink. Since they don’t own their first-round draft pick, the Panthers have no incentive to tank. They put a huge dent in the Falcons’ playoff hopes, almost did the same to the Packers and now look to continue playing the spoiler role against a reeling Jaguars squad. Jacksonville has lost 4 in a row and only leads the AFC South because that division has become almost as bad as the NFC South. Trevor Lawrence is banged up (ankle, shoulder, concussion, etc.), so things may get worse before they get better. Take the Panthers now while the spread is still more than a touchdown.
