Best early bet for NFL Week 1: Houston Texans -2 over Indianapolis Colts (-110)

Expectations are sky-high for the Texans after they won the AFC South with a 10-7 record last season. They are +105 favorites to come out on top of the division again, +850 to triumph in the AFC and +1600 to win the Super Bowl. There is no reason why head coach Demeco Ryans’ team can’t accomplish all of that. Houston hit a home run with C.J. Stroud as the #2 overall pick in 2023, and now the second-year signal-caller has even more weapons to work with thanks to the acquisition of wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon. The Texans have plenty of talent on the defensive side of the ball, too.

Indianapolis boasts their own promising young QB, Anthony Richardson, but he has not played since Week 4 last year because of a shoulder injury. As such, Richardson and the Colts may take a few weeks to get into a groove. Finally, I’m too concerned about this game being in Indy. The Colts went 4-5 at home in 2023 and lost to the visiting Texans 23-19 in Week 18. Give me the visitors to win and cover – likely on their way to an eventual AFC South crown.

We’ll have NFL Week 1 picks for every game!
