Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons (10) grabs a rebound in the second quarter against the Milwaukee Bucks at Barclays Center.

Welcome to another Wednesday in the association. So far this week we’ve seen some big upsets and underdogs making noise, but for today, I think the favorites will run wild.

Be sure to check our NBA predictions for picks on the spread and total for Wednesday’s 8-game slate, but without wasting any more time, let’s jump straight into my parlay.

Magic -1.5 (-105)

Orlando Magic -1.5 (-105) over Detroit Pistons

It’s been a season to forget in the Motor City. The Pistons have lost 6 in a row and 9 of their last 10, as losing Cade Cunningham has proven to be a larger setback than anticipated. The biggest problem for Detroit has been their defense, as they rank 30th in defensive rating in the last 8 games. Rookie Jalen Duren has seen an increase in his minutes in the last few games as Detroit hoped that would solve their problems in the paint, but it’s been a tough task for the first-year player. As for the Magic, their ridiculously-tall lineup has caused chaos in the last few weeks as they were able to beat the Celtics in back-to-bac games and exploited teams that relied too much on the 3-pointer. Detroit is one of the worst teams in the league, and I don’t see how Orlando won’t utilize their size and live in the paint.

Brooklyn Nets -9.5 (+140) over Atlanta Hawks

Brooklyn basketball has been a thing of beauty in the last few weeks. Their fully healthy lineup has helped them win 9 games in a row and rank 2nd in net rating in that 9-game span. In their most recent game against the Cavaliers, who have the best defensive rating in the association this season, the Nets dropped 125 points and held Donovan Mitchell to 15 points. Before that, the Nets beat Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks by 18 points. Their defense has been excellent and their offense has been elite, and they will face a Hawks team on the second leg of a back-to-back on Wednesday. Trae Young is listed as questionable for this matchup after playing 34 minutes yesterday, and if he is unable to go, Brooklyn should win this game by far more than this alternate spread. But even if Young plays, I’m comfortable playing the Nets up to 10 points.

Utah Jazz -6 (+135) over Golden State Warriors

The Warriors are not the same team without Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins on the floor. Golden State has had to play without the duo for the last 6 games, and they rank 28th in offensive rating and have the 2nd highest turnover rate. Their offense has been composed of Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole who have had to combine for about 60 points to keep the Warriors in the game. But the Warriors have listed Thompson as unlikely to play due to injury management, so that means it will be the Poole and Donte DiVincenzo show. No offense to DiVincenzo, but if you’re relying on him to lead the team and put up 25+ points, your team is not in a good position to win. Golden State is being overvalued because of their reputation, so I’ll back the Jazz for a comfortable win on Wednesday.
