NBA Sunday parlay at mega (+884 odds) today 1/8: Nothing but Nets

Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant (7) reacts after making a three-point basket in the first half against the Chicago Bulls at United Center

While it is Week 18 of the NFL regular season, there is still plenty of action in the NBA to bet on. In this 9-game slate, I have come up with a 3-leg mega parlay for the action that would pay out at nearly 9/1 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Check out our NBA predictions for all today’s games.

Pacers win by 11+ (+170)

Nets -3.5 (-110)

Cavaliers -4.5 (-110)

Parlay odds: +884

Indiana Pacers win by 11+ (+170) over Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets snapped their 3-game skid with a win over the Bucks, but don’t let it fool you. Charlotte’s 138-109 win over Milwaukee was a fluke, outlier, anomaly — whatever you want to call it. Terry Rozier dropped 39 points, the Hornets shot over 50% from the floor and over 40% from 3-point land. As they say, lightning doesn’t strike twice. Charlotte has lost 5 of their last 7 games and could be without Gordon Hayward on Sunday, which would only make things worse in Buzz City. Meanwhile, Indiana has won 5 of their last 6 games with their only loss coming from the 76ers in overtime.

The Pacers have turned their season around after a slow start to the year. In their last 6 games, Indiana ranks 2nd in offensive rating, 9th in rebounding percentage, and has the 7th-lowest turnover rate. I expect a double-digit win from Indiana on Sunday.

Brooklyn Nets -3.5 (-110) over Miami Heat

The Nets have entered the conversation as the best team in the Eastern Conference. They have won 13 of their last 14 games, and in that span, they rank 1st in offensive rating and 6th in defensive rating. The key to their success has been a healthy lineup, along with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant having exceptional seasons. As for the Heat, per usual, half of their team is listed either as questionable or probable for Sunday’s game. It has been a mediocre year for Miami as their offense has been lackluster.

They routinely go with an 8-man rotation which is led by Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, but the rest of their playmakers have not been meeting expectations. When Tyler Herro is healthy, he’s been great. But he is one of the many Heat players listed as questionable, and it’s hard to ignore how well the Nets have been playing.

Cleveland Cavaliers -4.5 (-110) over Phoenix Suns

It could be a very different starting 5 for Phoenix if Chris Paul is unable to suit up. He left Friday’s game early because of a hip injury and is questionable for Sunday’s game. If Paul is not healthy enough to play, it would be a huge loss for the Suns, who are already without Devin Booker. Not only would it force Deandre Ayton and Mikal Bridges to step up and take on bigger responsibilities, but it would also stretch the Phoenix bench very thin. The Cavaliers have won 3 of their last 4 games and Donovan Mitchell is playing out of his mind in the last week or two. Their defense remains elite, and now with their surging offense, they have become a tough opponent in the Eastern Conference. I’ll take the points with Cleveland on Sunday.
