The finalists from last season got the 2022-2023 NBA season started last night, and now it’s time for the rest of the league to join in. One of the most interesting matchups will be between the Memphis Grizzlies and the New York Knicks. The Grizzlies were a surprise package last season and will be determined to show that it was not a fluke. The visitors tonight however, will be keen to avoid last year’s disappointment.
You can read all our NBA picks for today’s games, but now let’s jump straight into my same game parlay selections for this East vs West matchup.

Jalen Brunson to score 20+ points (-112)
After signing a mega contract in the offseason, Jalen Brunson will be keen to start winning over his new fanbase with immediate effect. He certainly has the talent to do it, having averaged 16.3 points per game on just 12.8 field-goal attempts per game last season. Now no longer playing second fiddle to Luka Doncic, Brunson should be set to have an offensive outburst this season, starting with opening night. Brunson is not a major threat from the 3-point line, but he thrives from mid-range and in the paint. The absence of Jaren Jackson Jr. for the Grizzlies should certainly help him score, as Jackson Jr. is the Grizzlies’ main rim protector. Back Brunson to have a strong debut tonight.

Mitchell Robinson to record 10+ rebounds (+144)
Mitchell Robinson has the task of matching up against Steven Adams tonight. That should present the Knicks center with an opportunity to have a great rebounding night. Adams will not do much damage with his jump shot. Instead, he is confined to the paint, being a threat only when rolling to the rim or affecting the game with his offensive rebounding ability. Expect Robinson to be close to Adams throughout this matchup, in the paint and battling for every rebound on both ends of the floor. Robinson averaged 8.6 boards per game last year but should be able to improve on that.
Memphis Grizzlies -4 over New York Knicks (-110)
The Grizzlies finished 2nd in the Western Conference last season on the back of their strong play at home, going 30-11. There is nothing to suggest that will drop off this season. The Grizzlies have kept last year’s roster largely intact. With young talents Ja Morant and Desmond Bane continuing to develop, they are set to make noise in the West once again. The Knicks, on the other hand, were under .500 on the road last year and the addition of Brunson might not be enough to move the needle. There are likely to be growing pains too, as the team adjusts to having a new primary playmaker. On opening night, that should be enough of a factor to allow the Grizzlies to cover.
