Cleveland Cavaliers ML (-220)
Last night Minnesota and the Clippers battled really hard until the very end vs the Nuggets and Suns, while Atlanta defied all odds and extended their series against Boston on the road. Neither of the 3 favorites in those games were able to cover the spread, that just shows you how hard it is to close out a series in the NBA Playoffs. Not a lot has gone the Cavs way in this series so far, other than the Game 2 victory. They’ve been held to an average of just 94 points with their primary scorer and best player Donovan Mitchell struggling to find his form. It’s hard to expect them to turn this series around, but the Cavaliers should be able to get one last victory in front of the home fans. They were 31-10 SU during the regular season at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, and with their season being on the line that should bring the best out of them. Although the Knicks have a 3-1 lead in the series, it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for them. Julius Randle is yet to play at the level we saw him play during the regular season, they’re mostly relying on Jalen Brunson to carry them. I think it’s more realistic to expect New York closing this out in Game 6 at home instead of tonight in Cleveland. Cavs win another low scoring game.
Caris LeVert Over 13.5 points (-125)
LeVert has been a steady 3rd option on offense for the Cavaliers in the series, clearing this line in 3 consecutive games and scoring 24 points on an efficient 9-for-16 from the field in the only Cavs win so far in Game 2. He drained 4 threes on 9 attempts in that game, and if we count the regular season he has now scored over 13.5 points in 6 of his last 7 outings. Since the start of March he’s averaging 14.1 points per game on 51% shooting from the field and an impressive 48.8% from three, with that kind of consistency Cleveland can rely on him for long stretches of games in this series, especially if Donovan Mitchell struggles again like he did on Sunday. My only concern here for LeVert is that Mitchell explodes for 50 like Jimmy Butler did and he doesn’t get enough shot attempts, but let’s hope LeVert can step up here with their season on the line.
Wednesday’s NBA Mega Parlay has +1006 odds!
Jalen Brunson Over 4.5 alternate assists (-280)
Brunson has been doing it all for the Knicks so far in this series scoring at least 20 points in each game and also dishing out 6 assists in the last 3 games. This is especially important with Julius Randle struggling to find his rhythm following the ankle injury he sustained towards the end of the regular season. Players like RJ Barrett, Josh Hart and even Mitchell Robinson at times have all stepped up to compensate for Randle’s struggles, so Brunson should have plenty of options to pass the ball to on offense here. If we take a look at the regular season as well, Since the start of February, Brunson has delivered at least 5 dimes in 19 of his last 23 games, so unless the Knicks completely fall apart on offense he should be able to reach this number without issues.
Jarrett Allen to record 2+ blocks (+115)
This has been the lowest scoring playoff series so far with just 192 points per game averaged between them. Defense has been a priority for both teams and so far they’ve combined to averaged 18.3 steals and 9 blocks per game between them. There is no way the Cavaliers are surviving tonight without the presence of Allen on the inside. In the Game 2 victory at home he recorded 3 blocks as the Knicks were held to just 90 points, I’m expecting a similar game plan tonight from head coach J.B. Bickerstaff. Allen also cleared this line in Game 3 of the series, so for a bet that lands 50% of the time we are getting really solid odds. Along with the rest of the Cavs roster, I’m expecting Allen to be extra motivated here as they look to extend the series in front of the home fans.
