The 2023 calendar year of NBA action kicks off with a solid slate on New Year’s Day. The highlight is in Denver, as the Nuggets take on the Boston Celtics. We’ll be focusing on that game in this mega parlay, as well as two other teams with NBA Finals aspirations.

Head over to our NBA predictions for picks on the spread and total for every game on the board, but for now, let’s jump into our NBA mega parlay.

Denver Nuggets ML (+100)

Milwaukee Bucks -8.5 (-114)

Memphis Grizzlies -4.5 (-110)

Denver Nuggets ML (+100) over Boston Celtics

Don’t look now, but the Nuggets have ascended to the top of the Western Conference after winning 8 of their last 10 games. Denver is getting another herculean season from Nikola Jokic and the pieces around him are starting to come together. Denver is a resounding 13-3 at home this season, including recent wins over the Suns and Heat. The Nuggets now face their most difficult test of the season in a Celtics team playing at the peak of their powers. However, Boston is in the midst of a difficult stretch, having just closed out a homestand with wins over the Clippers and Bucks. The Nuggets are one of the best offenses in basketball, which should come in handy against a stout Boston perimeter defense. Since we’re getting Denver as a slight home underdog, I’ll back the Nuggets in this spot.

Milwaukee Bucks -8.5 (-114) over Washington Wizards

The Bucks haven’t been playing their best basketball of late, but this game presents a nice get-right spot for Milwaukee. The Nets just passed them for the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference, and the Bucks are just 4-6 in their last 10 games. However, the Wizards might present the perfect antidote for Milwaukee’s struggles. Washington has won 4 straight games, but the Wizards are still an awful road team, checking in at just 6-14 away from home this season. The Wizards are 18th in offensive rating on the year, which doesn’t bode well against a Bucks team who are 3rd in defensive rating. After a difficult road trip, the Bucks started off their homestand with a convincing win over the Timberwolves. Given that the Wizards are in the midst of their second road game in 3 nights, look for a similar result on Sunday.

Memphis Grizzlies -4.5 (-110) over Sacramento Kings

The Grizzlies are almost as good as any team in basketball when their offense and defense are clicking, and that’s been the case of late. Memphis is fresh off a dominant win over the upstart Pelicans and they’ll welcome another surprising young team to town on Sunday in the Sacramento Kings. The Kings boast a top-10 offense, but the Grizzlies are 4th in defensive rating for a reason and should have Jaren Jackson Jr., plus plenty of other bodies to throw at Domantas Sabonis down low. On the other side, the Kings defense is 8th-worst in basketball, so it’s no surprise that Sacramento tends to need to outscore teams to win. However, given that Memphis is 14-3 at home on the season, I don’t see the Kings getting it done on the road in this one. Ja Morant and company should win by a few possessions.
