LA Lakers 1 – 10 Win Margin (+170)

I’m backing the Lakers with the assumption that LeBron James will not play. The King is listed as questionable with the ankle injury that has been bothering him for weeks, and I expect Los Angeles to give the 38-year-old as much rest as possible. While a week ago I would auto-fade the Lakers without James, this is a new team after the trade deadline. Anthony Davis looked like his old self on Monday night with 19 points and 20 rebounds, Malik Beasley has been exactly what Los Angeles needed off the bench so far and D’Angelo Russell has been impressive on offense. The Lakers will face a Pelicans team that has shown a lot more fight in the last week, but with CJ McCollum listed as questionable for Wednesday, this is the perfect opportunity for the newest Los Angeles acquisitions to showcase their skills. And if LeBron plays, even better! I think the Lakers can close out the first half of their season with a win on their home court.

Anthony Davis to Score 35+ Points (+500)

Davis loves to perform against his old team, and tonight’s game is a perfect opportunity for him to show us all once again that, when healthy, he is a top 5 talent in this league. His scoring has been down a bit lately, but with James most likely not playing here he’ll have to step up his production. We all know he’s capable of doing so, in the game played at New Orleans 10 days ago he dropped a smooth 34 points on 52% shooting from the field and 40% from three in just 38 minutes played. He’s focused a lot more on rebounding since that game, and that approach has resulted in 3 losses over their last 4 games. Tonight, the Lakers will need his points more than anything. They play the 3rd fastest pace in the league this season and with the last 2 games vs the Pels seeing 237 and 257 points it’s pretty obvious we’re in for a high scoring affair once again. New Orleans has allowed 53.3 points per game from inside the paint in their last 3, so look for LA to feed their big man early and often in this one.

Our NBA Wednesday mega parlay has +1107 odds!
