Phoenix Suns -10 over LA Lakers (-108)
Their most recent win over the New Orleans Pelicans was a one-man show for the Suns as Devin Booker exploded for 58 points. The Lakers are one of his favorite opponents as he’s on a streak of 7 straight games of 30+ points against them, so expect more fireworks from DB tonight. Deandre Ayton remains questionable with an ankle injury, but with Anthony Davis out, the Suns might not even need him here.

Realistically, the Lakers don’t have the depth to keep up with the Suns, but a fast back-and-forth game might be their best chance of keeping this game close. Phoenix has the 3rd-best offensive efficiency and the Lakers’ paint will be wide open without AD inside. The Suns are also lethal from three-point land, making 37.3% of their shots this season, and with the Lakers allowing 37.5% over their last 3 games, they could be in trouble here. The Los Angeles Lakers are not averse to a fast start. They have won the opening quarter in 3 of their last 4 games. With LeBron James playing big minutes to open up the game, they should have the chance to do so once more here. If the Lakers star can set the tempo to begin with, it should give the weaker Lakers’ second unit a chance to hold the lead until the end of the period. The Suns, on the other hand, have lost the opening quarter in each of their last 2 games but went on to win them overall.
I am expecting something similar to happen tonight as the Suns and Chris Paul make adjustments as the games goes on. Fatigue is likely to play a part later in the night for the Lakers too. But that should not be as evident in the opening 12 minutes.
