Phoenix Suns -4 (-108)

Unlike the series opener, Game 2 was a slugfest between the Suns and Nuggets as we saw just 184 points scored. Nikola Jokic made all the difference for Denver with 39 points and 16 rebounds, but with the series now switching to Phoenix it will be a lot tougher to get those type of numbers. Chris Paul’s injury really helped the Nuggets win Game 2, heading into Game 3 they are just 1-5 SU in their last 6 road games and have won just once in their last 6 visits to Footprint Center. Initial reports are suggesting CP3’s groin injury will keep him out of Games 3, 4 and 5. It’s up to Kevin Durant and Devin Booker to step up, and winning Friday’s game will be their toughest task since becoming teammates a couple of months ago. No team has ever come back from 3-0 in the postseason, so if Phoenix really wants to make this a series they’ll have to win Friday’s game. The absence of Paul really hurts them, but the poor play of Murray and Porter Jr., along with the no-show of the Denver bench gives me hope they can win one at home. I’ll take the home team to cover.

Kevin Durant to score 30+ points (-110)

This is the moment of truth for Kevin Durant. Last year he got swept by the Boston Celtics, with a potential loss in tonight’s game that could very well happen again. In order for him to avoid that scenario he will have to step up big-time. After falling in love with the 3-ball early in Game 2, he could just never get going and finished the game shooting just 37% from the field and going 2-for-12 from deep. After finishing off the Clippers with back-to-back 30+ point games, KD has now failed to score 30 in both games against Denver in this series, which is very unusual for him. Prior to the series he was on a run of 30+ point games in 3 of the last 4 games against the Nuggets, while also shooting over 63% from the field against them and 57% from three. With CP3 out of the lineup, all the hopes of the Suns staying alive in this series are now in his and Devin Booker’s hands. I’m more inclined to lean towards Durant having a massive scoring night, and don’t be shocked if he gets 30 shot attempts in tonight’s game.

We also have a Boston Celtics vs Philadelphia 76ers Same Game Parlay at +658 odds!

Cameron Payne over 1.5 made threes (+140)

Aside from Kevin Durant elevating his game, the Phoenix Suns’ role players will also need to do that if their team is to win. Normally a bench player behind Chris Paul, Cam Payne will start tonight after CP3 was officially ruled out with a groin injury. Payne himself has had issues staying on the court in these playoffs, which is the main reason why he’s averaged only 2.3 points per game in just 3 games played. His minutes are way down from 20.2 per game in the regular season to just 8.3 in the postseason, but that all should change tonight as he’s finally fully recovered and ready to play. During the regular season he shot the 3-ball at almost 37% efficiency, if he can get it going from downtown early in this game that’ll be a massive lift for Phoenix. So far Denver has been able to contain opponents quite well shooting from three, in their last 3 games they’ve allowed just 24.1% of made shots. However, role players tend to play a lot better at home than on the road, so Payne’s game should elevate significantly. The space he will have with KD and Booker attracting most of the attention on offense should help him get to 2 threes.
