Brooklyn Nets +8.5 (-106)

KD and Kyrie are long gone, but the Nets have slowly come together as a team and have gone 15-9 ATS as road underdogs with the bulk of those games happening after the trades went down. When they’re underdogs by 5 points or more they’re an impressive 12-3 ATS. This team has been counted out by almost everyone, but I have a feeling a lot of parlays will be messed up by them. My biggest worry for Philly fans is the amount of time since they played together. We’ve seen Doc Rivers rest quite a few players over the last week or two and with the 7-day break after the final day of the regular season, it might take a quarter or two for things to get going properly. Winning a playoff game by 9 points isn’t easy no matter who the opponent is, especially in today’s NBA where no lead is safe. We’ve seen quite a few upsets in these types of games, and while I’m not expecting the Nets to win, they have enough talent to keep things close.

Mikal Bridges 2+ made threes (-310)

It has been quite a year for Mikal Bridges. He has played 83 games during the regular season, been traded and now is the top option on offense for the Nets. Not counting the final game of the year, when he played just 4 seconds, he capped off the regular season averaging 30.4 points per game in his last 9 outings while shooting 45% from the field and a respectable 33.3% from three on 2.8 makes per game. He actually has a history with the Philadelphia 76ers franchise. The Philly native was drafted with the 10th pick by the Sixers, but was immediately shipped to Phoenix, despite his mother working for the 76ers at the time. So there’s definitely an added incentive on his side to make the Sixers regret dealing him so early in his career. He has played Philly 11 times in his career and is shooting over 50% from the field against them and a respectable 36.8% from deep. I expect at least 2 threes from him in this game.

Joel Embiid 1+ made threes (-145)

Speaking of threes, Joel Embiid has made quite a few of them this season. He finished the regular season knocking down at least 1 three in 6 of his last 10 games, while averaging 3.1 attempts per game. That tells me he’s made a conscious effort to make at least 1 shot from distance each game. This series is a match made in heaven for Embiid to dominate as the Nets are very thin on the inside. His match-up down low will be Nic Claxton, who simply doesn’t have the physicality to deal with him, so it will require a team effort from Brooklyn to slow down Embiid. The good news is, if they are able to push him out of the paint he is more than capable of knocking down the deep ball if needed. In 19 career games against the Nets, he has failed to make a three only 3 times for an average of 1.4 made per game on an impressive 40.3% efficiency. Count on Embiid to keep that run going in the postseason.

Saturday’s NBA mega parlay has +1426 odds!

Tobias Harris to score 10+ points (-330)

Since becoming a member of the Sixers in 2019, Tobias Harris has played the Nets 14 times and has averaged 18.3 points per game. During that stretch he has failed to score in double figures just twice, so I’m very optimistic he can accomplish that feat in today’s game. The rotation will shorten a bit as every minute is valuable at this stage of the season and Harris will be a key figure for any success the 76ers have this year. He still has a lot to prove after the Sixers picked him over Jimmy Butler a couple of years ago. In last year’s postseason run he failed to score 10 points only once in 12 games played and with the Nets having their hands full dealing with Embiid, Harden and Maxey, he can swoop right in and get to his average fairly easily.
