The game we have all been waiting for is finally here as Ben Simmons makes his return to Philadelphia for the first since being traded away. Tip-off is live from 7:30 pm ET on TNT, followed by part two of Tuesday’s doubleheader between the LA Lakers and Phoenix Suns. We’ll have predictions for all 4 games on our NBA picks page, so be sure to check them out. But for now, let’s dive into our Nets vs 76ers Same Game Parlay.
Brooklyn Nets 11+ win margin (+140)
Ben Simmons over 10.5 points (-108)
Ben Simmons over 4.5 assists (-148)
Joe Harris over 1.5 made threes (-210)
Same Game Parlay odds: +842
Brooklyn Nets 11+ win margin over Philadelphia 76ers (+140)
It’s never easy winning on the road in the NBA by double-digits, but the Philadelphia 76ers have been hit hard by the injury bug. Joel Embiid, James Harden and Tyrese Maxey are all out, who combine for 77.2 points per game, which is just too much to make up for when your next best player is Tobias Harris. At 8-9, the Nets aren’t exactly among the elite in the NBA, but they have picked things up a bit lately, winning 2 in a row and Ben Simmons is finally putting up numbers for them. Kyrie Irving is back in the line-up following his suspension, while Kevin Durant has scored over 25 in every single game so far this season. Brooklyn heads into the game as 7-point favorites and I can’t think of any reason why they don’t win this game by more than 10 points.
Ben Simmons over 10.5 points (-108)
There couldn’t be a better time for Simmons to return to Philadelphia. The Sixers are hampered by injuries, so at least that takes some pressure off him on the court. Off the court, there will definitely be heckling from the 76ers fans, so I’m interested to see how Simmons responds here. He’s played well over the past 3 games, averaging 16 points, 8.7 boards and 5 assists per game, playing less than 30 minutes per game. He’s gone over 10.5 points in all 3 of those games and against his old team, I’m expecting him to play at least 35 minutes, which should in theory mean an increase in production.
Ben Simmons over 4.5 assists (-148)
The injury at the start of November has brought Simmons’ assist numbers down a bit, but let’s not forget he averaged 7.3 assists per game in the month of October, despite all the issues surrounding the Nets early on in the season. Getting the ball to his teammates has never been a problem for Simmons — at 6-foot-11 he dwarfs most of the point-guard matchups he faces on a nightly basis. That will be the case against both De’Anthony Melton and Shake Milton. Neither of those two players is known for their defense, and with both Seth Curry and Joe Harris being healthy here, Simmons has enough options to pass it to on offense. Don’t be surprised if he goes for 7 of 8 assists here.
Joe Harris over 1.5 made threes (-210)
Harris is 3rd on the team in three-pointers made per game, averaging 1.9 a night. He is shooting 37.7% from downtown, better than Seth Curry, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. He’s coming off back-to-back games of scoring 4 threes against the Blazers and Grizzlies, and for the month of November, he’s knocked down at least 2 threes in 8 of 10 games played. Although Philly ranks 1st in terms of opponent three-point percentage, that all goes out the window here with Joel Embiid out of the lineup. The Nets will drive the ball to the basket at will, without the big man down low the defense will collapse and they can pull it out to their three-point shooters with ease. I’m expecting a big scoring night from the Nets here and Harris should have no issues getting to 2 threes.
