LA Lakers 1-10 win margin over Boston Celtics (+230)

There’s not much value in backing the Celtics right now after seeing them lose their last 2 games by 16 and 20 points. Offensively, they’ve looked nowhere near the team from the first 3 games of this road trip and now they go up against their biggest rival in the Lakers. LA comes into this one with a healthy big 3 of Davis, James and Westbrook. They just beat the Pistons on the road by 7 and are looking to start another run to shorten the gap between them and a playoff spot in the loaded West.

Head-to-head meetings have been a toss-up between these two, as each team has won 5 games in the last 10 played. The thing that gives me optimism has been the Lakers’ form in home games lately, they’ve covered in 4 of their last 5 outings and overall in the month of December they are 6-3 ATS in their last 9 played. I’m expecting a close one with a lot of points scored, but with the Lakers ultimately coming out on top by a couple of points.

Anthony Davis to score 30+ points (-105)

Health has literally been the only thing slowing down the production of AD this season. As soon as he recovered from the flu he’s back to scoring 30+ points a night. He’s done so in 4 of 5 games played in the month of December, and his average without the 1-point game against Cleveland is at 41 points per game, so scoring 30 even against a team like the Celtics should be expected from him. Boston struggles guarding the mid-range a lot with Robert Williams III still not back from injury. Davis has over 30 points in 2 of his last 4 against the Celtics and hopefully it’s another productive night for him.

LeBron James over 5.5 assists (-125)

The Lakers won’t stand much of a chance without LeBron James putting up numbers here. James averages 6.8 assists in Lakers wins this season, so when he gets his teammates involved this team is a lot harder to beat. His assist numbers against Boston have looked really good – in the last 15 meetings, dating back to the 2015-16 season, Lebron has failed to clear this line only twice which is really encouraging ahead of tonight’s game.

What about his more recent numbers you ask? Well, he’s dished out at least 6 assists in 4 of his last 6 games, while averaging 6.7 per game during that stretch. Having AD in the starting lineup certainly helps him to get numbers here. If a hobbled Kawhi Leonard can get 6 assists against these Cs, then so should a fully healthy LeBron James, even if he is at the latter stages of his career.
