Over 229.5 Total Points (-110)

The Hawks only scored 99 points in Game 1. That led to an easy under and the inevitable drop in the total for Game 2. In a more competitive contest, you have to think that we are going to see more scoring because that is the best way for the Hawks to push Boston. They were just dreadful shooting the ball in the opener, but during the season were able to average a lot more points against the Celtics. I can see them getting more like 110 in Game 2 and Boston will likely pour in plenty. The total has gone over in 5 of the last 7 overall for Atlanta and in 4 of their last 6 vs Eastern Conference opponents. Boston finished the year 25-16-1 on the O/U in home games, while the Hawks were 24-18-1 on the road. Count on those trends to continue in Game 2.

Trae Young to Record 8+ Assists (-185)

Young was focal point of the Celtics defense in Game 1 as they threw the likes of Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and Marcus Smart on him. As a result they were able to limit him to just 5-for-18 from the field and 5 turnovers, but Young was still able to collect 8 assists. If we include the postseason, he is now on a run of 3 consecutive games with at least 8 dimes against the Celtics. Atlanta shot only 38% from the field and 17% from three, but Young still managed to clear this line. I’m expecting adjustments to be made by Quin Snyder for Game 2, which should hopefully result in more than 24 points from bench players and a higher field goal percentage. If that happens, Young should easily get to 8 assists here.

Malcolm Brogdon 2+ Made Threes (+105)

Brogdon didn’t have the best of games in the series opener finishing with just 5 points on a pedestrian 1-for-6 from the field and 0-for-3 from three-point land. Far too little for a player who is in the running for the 6th man of the year award. Prior to Saturday’s game, he averaged 23 points per game in his last 4 against Atlanta while scoring at least 2 threes in 3 of those games. Granted, most of his production came from back when he was a starter at Indiana, but even in a lesser role off the bench for Boston he should be able to knock down a pair of threes here. Atlanta has really struggled defending the perimeter over their last 3 games allowing 40.5% of made shots. They were in the bottom 10 in road games during the regular season allowing 37.4% of shots. Time for Brogdon to wake up here and prove his worth of the bench.

Tuesday’s NBA Mega Parlay has +1065 odds!

Jaylen Brown to Record 1+ Steals (-260)

I underestimated Brown’s production in Game 1, thinking his hand injury could slow him down a bit, but I was proven wrong as he led the scoring with 29 points on an efficient 12-for-23 shooting. The injury is a thing of the past since he was also active on the defensive end recording 1 steal and making Trae Young’s life miserable at times. He has now recorded 1 steal in 5 of his last 6 games overall, and in 5 of his last 7 against his the Hawks, including 3 straight if we count the regular season as well. The Celtics will go a long way if Brown continues to play lock down defense on the Young and Murray backcourt, and I think he has made it a priority of his to record at least 1 steal every game of this series.
