The 2022-23 NBA season is in the books, and what an eventful campaign it was. With the Denver Nuggets knocking off the Miami Heat to claim their first title in franchise history on Monday, it’s now time to turn our attention to the 2023-24 season. What promises to be another frenzied NBA offseason begins on Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean that oddsmakers are slowing down when it comes to putting out NBA Finals lines for next season.
Opening lines and odds for the 2023-24 NBA season were released at most sportsbooks on Monday night, and lines are already on the move. Let’s take a look at the current odds and give our impressions.

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
- Denver Nuggets (+500)
- Boston Celtics (+500)
- Milwaukee Bucks (+650)
- Phoenix Suns (+850)
- Golden State Warriors (+1200)
- Los Angeles Clippers (+1600)
- Dallas Mavericks (+1900)
- Miami Heat (+2000)
- Memphis Grizzlies (+2100)
- Cleveland Cavaliers (+2900)
- New Orleans Pelicans (+4000)
- Sacramento Kings (+5000)
- Minnesota Timberwolves (+5000)
Of the favorites near the top of the odds board, it’s hard not to be intrigued by the Milwaukee Bucks at their current price. This is a team that has undergone a coaching change following their loss to the Miami Heat in Round 1, but the pieces are still there for a deep playoff run. Milwaukee still has one of the game’s best players in Giannis Antetokounmpo and the roster around him includes All-Star caliber players in Khris Middleton (RFA but should return), Jrue Holiday and Brook Lopez. If the Bucks can continue to surround Giannis with shooters, they should roll through the East in the regular season and be set up for a deep playoff run.

Best early bet for NBA Finals 2023-24: Sacramento Kings (+5000)
I was pretty shocked to see the Sacramento Kings open up at 50-1 considering the massive leap forward they took this season. There is a clear road map that past teams who were in the Kings’ position previously followed, most notably the Warriors, who bowed out in 7 games to a veteran Los Angeles Clippers squad in the 1st round prior to winning their first title in the 2014-15 season. This Kings team isn’t all that different from that Golden State side, as they have a pair of All-NBA teammates and boasted one of the best offenses in NBA history this past season. Furthermore, Sacramento battled the Warriors tooth and nail in a 7-game series, before ultimately falling to Steph Curry’s brilliance in Game 7.
The Kings were probably one wing piece short this season, but they have options in the offseason to upgrade the Harrison Barnes position and form a formidable starting 5 with a bench consisting of Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk and other quality role players. Outside of the Nuggets, the Western Conference is a complete crapshoot and injuries will likely play a major part in how the standings shake out next season. Based on the current odds, Sacramento is currently listed as the 9th-best team in the Western Conference by the sportsbooks, and that’s just disrespectful considering this is a young team that is clearly ascending. Now that they got their first taste of playoff basketball, I don’t mind taking a shot on the Kings to shock the world in the coming season.
