The young 2024 Major League Baseball season continues with a more-than-full 16-game slate on Tuesday. It includes a doubleheader between the Cardinals and Tigers after they were postponed on Monday. An intriguing schedule also features Yankees at Orioles, Cubs at Mets and Dodgers at Diamondbacks. Below is my MLB mega parlay for Tuesday, while you can also find out our MLB picks for the day’s biggest matchups.

Chicago Cubs ML over New York Mets (+110)

The Mets (14-14) have done well to be respectable this year, but the Cubs (18-11) are simply the far superior ballclub – both on paper and on the field. Chicago won the series opener 3-1 on Monday and Tuesday’s matchup should also be favorable for the visitors. Sean Manaea is taking the mound of the Mets; it’s a tough assignment. Against left-handed pitching in 2024, the Cubs are second in wOBA with a 137 wRC+ against southpaws and their 3.95 pitches per PA ranks 7th-most in the league.

Chicago’s patience could really pay off against Manaea, who has struggled with efficiency this season. He averages the 4th-most pitches per plate appearance this season and as a result has worked no more than 5.0 innings in each of his last 4 starts. The Cubs are countering with Javier Assad, who is 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA through 5 appearances. There’s no need to overthink this one. Go, Cubs, go!

Los Angeles Angels ML over Philadelphia Phillies (+120)

The Angels and Phillies were a tale of 2 teams going in different directions heading into this series, but perhaps Monday’s opener switched up the momentum. Los Angeles, which had been on a 4-game losing streak, gave up 3 runs in the top of the first inning but battled back for a 6-5 victory. Thus ended the Phillies’ 4-game winning streak.

Tuesday’s contest figures to be a pitching duel between L.A.’s Tyler Anderson and Philadelphia’s Spencer Turnbull. It is true that Turnbull (2-0, 1.33 ERA) has been outstanding so far in 2024, but Anderson (1.78 ERA, 1.05 ERA) has been every bit as good. The Angels’ left-hander has surrendered only 2 runs through 12.0 innings of work at home so far this season. With some confidence restored and playing at home, the Halos should have a good chance in what will likely be a low-scoring affair. They have good value well into plus-money odds.

San Diego Padres -1.5 over Cincinnati Reds (+150)

There is no way to sugarcoat it; this season has been mostly miserable for the Padres. They are 14-18 and have lost 5 games in a row. That being said, Tuesday could be when they start getting back on track. Yu Darvish’s numbers aren’t spectacular in the early stages of the season, but only 1 of his 5 starts has been poor and 3 of the 5 have been quite effective. He is also extremely well rested, having not taken the mound since April 14 because of a minor neck issue. Nick Martinez is going for the Reds, who have lost 3 of their last 5 contests. Martinez is 0-1 with a 5.48 ERA after allowing 5 runs on 11 hits in 6.0 innings against Philly during his most recent outing. A multi-run victory is well within reach for SD.
