As usual, it’s a relatively small Major League Baseball slate on a Thursday, with many teams in between series. Still, there is more than enough to work with as 14 ballclubs take the field. The slate includes an afternoon battle between American League East rivals Boston and Tampa Bay, while Milwaukee and San Diego are wrapping things up with a 9:40 pm ET matchup. Below is my MLB mega parlay for Thursday, and also be sure to check out all of our MLB picks for today’s games.

Reds ML (-125)

Yankees -1.5 (+152)

Cardinals -1.5 (-110)

MLB parlay odds: +766

For this parlay, we are going with 1 favorite on the money line and 2 favorites on the run line. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.

Cincinnati Reds ML over Philadelphia Phillies (-125)

Cincinnati is sending Nick Lodolo to the mound and you have to feel good about that if you have this as either a standalone play or a leg of a parlay. Lodolo dealt with a back injury and some control issues during his rookie season in 2022, but when he returned from the injured list everything turned around for the better. He went from a 5.81 ERA and a 1.79 WHIP in the first half of the season to a 2.92 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP following the all-star break. It’s clear that Lodolo made some sort of adjustment during his time recovering that completely changed his game, and it has carried over into the 2023 campaign. So far he is sporting a 1.50 ERA and a 1.79 xERA.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia is countering with fellow southpaw Bailey Falter. Unlike Lodolo, Falter does not have strikeout stuff and can be very hittable when he relies too heavily on his fastball. Opponents are batting .391 with a .328 xBA against his 4-seamer, and that pitch has made up nearly 50 percent of his deliveries this year. This is a good pitching matchup for the Reds to get the series started in a successful fashion.

New York Yankees -1.5 over Minnesota Twins (+152)

The sample size of success for Jhony Brito is small, but it should be enough for you to feel confident heading into Thursday’s contest. New York’s 25-year-old righty is 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA and 0.80 WHIP through the first 2 starts of his major-league career, which has spanned 10.0 innings. Minnesota is also 8-4 and will have a solid starter in Joe Ryan on the mound. However, Ryan surrendered 4 runs in his most recent outing against the Astros and now faces another one of the league’s most potent offenses in that of the Yankees.

Aaron Judge is batting .318 with 4 homers, Franchy Cordero has also gone deep 4 times and Giancarlo Stanton comes in at .275 with 3 longballs. The combination of those bats and Brito’s arm should be enough to give the Bronx Bombers a multi-run victory.

St. Louis Cardinals -1.5 over Pittsburgh Pirates (-110)

The Cardinals are facing Pirates right-hander Vince Velasquez on Thursday and they already have to be chomping at the bit. Velasquez is 0-2 with a horrendous 9.82 ERA through 2 starts this year. He just gave up 5 runs in only 2.2 innings of work during his most recent appearance against the White Sox. Adding insult to injury for Velasquez, Paul Goldschmidt is 5-for-14 lifetime against him with 1 homer. Tyler O’Neill is even better: 3-for-4 with 2 dingers.

But St. Louis may not even have to cross the plate a ton of times to win this game by multiple runs. Jordan Montgomery is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA to go along with 12 strikeouts and only 3 walks in 12.0 innings so far in 2023. Look for the Cards to get the job done with room to spare.
