Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief write-ups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!

I pride myself in being as transparent as they come. My NBA record from last season and this season are listed in my bio alongside with my MLB and NFL record. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite plays for Friday.

Gary Trent (Raptors) over 15.5 points (-104)

Line available at FanDuel at the time of publishing.

Trent have been a great addition to the Raptors team since they dealt Norman Powell in exchange for him during last seasons trade deadline. He is averaging just under 17 points per game and has had flashes this season of just how great of a scorer he is. He scored 26 points on the same Knicks team that he faces tonight back on opening week. This Knicks team has been a disappointment on the defensive end. They led the league in opponents points per game last season and a top 5 ranking in defensive efficiency. Fast forward to this season where they rank 22nd in defensive efficiency and allow the 14th most points.

Back to our guy Gary Trent. He has played 3 games since coming back from a calf injury. He put together only 14 points combined in the first two and then unleashed for 24 against the Thunder while playing 38 minutes. This is a great spot for him to build off that performance.

Garrison Matthews (Rockets) over 12.5 points (+104)

Line available at FanDuel at the time of publishing.

I thought these words would never come out of my mouth, but…the Rockets are the hottest team in basketball. They are winners of 7 in a row after starting the season 1-16. Matthews, the undrafted 3-year pro, deserves a lot of credit for the Rockets’ success. He has gone over this total in all 7 victories and averaging over 16 points a game in his last 5. He is a lethal shooter from the perimeter and that is where the Bucks struggle. They allow close to 14 made threes per game, which is 3rd highest in the association.

Both teams rank top 5 in pace which should give Matthews even more volume than the 10.5 field-goal attempts per game in his last 5.

Tyrese Haliburton (Kings) over 18.5 points plus assists (-125)

Line available at Draftkings at the time of publishing.

This game between the Kings and Hornets is the highest total on the slate for a reason. Both teams rank top 5 in pace, possessions per game, and bottom 5 in defensive efficiency. The Hornets are missing key guys in their frontcourt and have been rolling out a pretty bad defensive lineup. Haliburton has put together 3 straight games over 23 points and assists while shooting 50 percent from the field. He leads the Kings with more than 11 assist opportunities per game and should continue to set up good looks for his teammates in this one.
