Sidney Crosby over 0.5 assists (-140)
One of the games that should be a mismatch on paper is the Pittsburgh Penguins hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Pens may not be quite as dominant as years past, but they still look set to earn an Eastern Conference Wild Card spot. Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets have been the worst team in hockey for much of the season. There are many reasons for that, one of which is their poor goaltending. Columbus is allowing the 4th-most goals per game, and don’t even seem to care.
They acquired goalie Jonathan Quick last week, only to then also deal him away just days later. Therefore, we’re expecting a big night from the Pens — Crosby specifically. His Hall-of-Fame resume speaks for itself, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. Crosby’s 73 points leads the team, as does his 46 assists. The Pens’ captain has had multiple points against Columbus in 3 of his last 4 games against them, and in 36 career games, he has 32 assists and 48 total points. Given that Crosby hasn’t gone back-to-back games without an assist since mid-January, we’ll trust him to send out a helper against a weak Jackets defense.

Sebastian Aho over 0.5 assists (+125)
Yet another game that should be quite the mismatch is also taking place in the early window alongside the Penguins game. The Boston Bruins have been the talk of the NHL, and rightfully so, but the Carolina Hurricanes cannot be slept on. They have the 2nd-best record in the NHL and are the only other team with at least 40 wins. Carolina notched their 41st victory of the year by dismantling the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-0 on Sunday afternoon. If they can do that against a great team, they can certainly do the same against the Montreal Canadiens.
Another surprising aspect of that Lightning win was that Sebastian Aho didn’t get in the box score. While Teuvo Teravainen recorded a hat-trick and newcomer Shayne Gostisbehere had 3 points, Aho had a relaxing afternoon. However, we’ve targeted him twice so far this season, and he came through. The most recent was for this same prop at +130 odds and the first was just last month to record multiple points at +165 odds. Better yet, that first one came against these same Canadiens in mid-February. That marked the 4th straight game that Aho had multiple points against Montreal. He also had an assist in each of those games, and we anticipate that trend to continue tonight.
