With the NFL season winding down, NBA Wednesdays have become the highlight of my betting week. They offer the best matchups and most games right in the middle of the week; it’s reminding me the weekend is on the horizon.

Tonight there are no shortage of storylines. Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo are set for a showdown in Milwaukee, Ben Simmons returns to Philadelphia, the Grizzlies and Warriors are showcasing a potential Western Conference Finals previous, and the Raptors try to salvage their season in Sacramento. Did I forget to mention Anthony Davis will return tonight on a minute’s restriction?

Let’s look at my favorite player props on the night.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL) Over 29.5 points (-120)

We have a battle of the MVPs tonight in Milwaukee, as Jokic and the Nuggets come to town. This line is well below the standard 32.5-34.5 that we’re used to with Giannis and it’s likely due to uncertainty surrounding his return from injury. Against Detroit earlier this week he finished with 29 points in 26 minutes, but what I loved seeing was the 17 free-throw attempts he took. Giannis attacking the rim is a good sign for this line. The Nuggets are 9-13 on the road this season — very different team when traveling — and allow the 7th-most points in the paint. Enjoy this line while you can get it. 1U.

Keegan Murray (SAC) Under 13.5 points (-118)

This is the highest his point total has been in the last 10 games, and he has only hit in 2 of the last 6. The Raptors’ season is in the balance; this upcoming road trip before all-star break could very well dictate if they are buyers or sellers at the deadline. This Tuesday the team had a meeting and reviewed defensive tape from last year to see what has gone wrong, as they have greatly regressed with the same group. I expect them to come out feisty tonight against Sacramento and from a matchup perspective they have several guys to contest Murray on the perimeter. Scottie Barnes, Precious Achiuwa and Pascal Siakam can make it very difficult to get going from 3 — which is where he’s been hot lately. 1U.

Jordan Poole (GSW) Over 2.5 threes (-119)

Poole is averaging 3 treys per game over the last 10 and has hit this in 3 of his last 4. The Grizzlies are giving up the 6th-most 3-pointers per game to opposing shooting guards over the last 15. Despite Stephen Curry returning, Poole has stayed in the starting lineup and he has seen more open looks as a result. He is shooting 34% from 3 in the month of January — his best mark since October — and is averaging 9 3s per game in that same span. Poole hit this number with ease on Christmas Day against the Grizz (w/o Curry in the lineup) and he should get more open looks tonight as Memphis focuses on stopping Curry and Klay Thompson. The Grizzlies are so good at defending the rim that opposing teams are shooting 40% of their shots against Memphis from 3. 1U.
