Michael Porter Jr. (DEN) over 21.5 points & rebounds (-120)
Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Michael Porter Jr came out firing in Game 1. He scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half and reeled down 10 rebounds. He’s more than capable of an uptick in volume if the opportunity presents itself. Caldwell-Pope attempted his most field goal attempts of all season and Aaron Gordon is being left open from three.
Like any NBA team, the Los Angeles Lakers are sure to make adjustments in Game 2. They want to pull Nikola Jokic outside of the paint and have to defend the ball. This will leave Porter crashing the glass constantly and pushing the tempo on the other end. Jokic had 21 rebounds in Game 1 that will likely dip tonight.
On the scoring end, Porter needs to continue to be aggressive. He did make some contested 3-pointers but that’s who he is. He has the green light from anywhere outside the paint. The 6’10 Porter elevates sky high on his jump shots. All attention will continue to be on Jokic down low. We’ll see if the Lakers continue to let Hachimura defend him down low. Backdoors and handoffs will be open for Porter.
Porter is over this line in 4 of 8 this postseason when he sees 30+ minutes of action. Dating back to the regular season, when Jokic and Jamal Murray are healthy, Porter eclipsed this line in 72% of the games played together. Although the three haven’t shared the court as much as they’d like this season, this is the time to lock in and take care of business.
