Sunday was a productive day as I managed to land my +490 NBA first basket scorer bet on Devin Booker in the Suns vs Thunder game. With another 13-game night coming our way on Tuesday it’s only right we go at it again!

Celtics vs 76ers: Tyrese Maxey (+700)
Tyrese Maxey is a problem for most opposing defenses on a nightly basis and tonight’s game against the Celtics should be no exception. Getting off to a hot start will be crucial for the 76ers and Maxey’s speed is definitely something that comes in handy. Before that happens though, Joel Embiid will have to win the opening tip against Al Horford as Robert Williams III is most likely not going to suit up. That’s good news for Sixers fans as Embiid is 2-0 in opening-tip jumps against Horford and Blake Griffin this season, and the only tip he lost was against Williams.
Maxey might not have the flashiest total numbers, but that’s only because he has missed quite a few games due to injury this season. He’s made the first field goal for the 76ers 8 times, which is tied for 4th-most, but over the last 10 games he’s made 2 of them. Only De’Anthony Melton has more during that stretch, but I feel like with Jaylen Brown not playing the Celtics could have a hard time staying in front of Maxey. Over their last 3 games the Celtics are allowing 55.3 points from inside the paint, which is in the bottom 10 of the NBA, so they’re clearly struggling with interior defense. Maxey could very well drive the ball to the basket and get fouled, with a 90% success rate from the charity stripe over his last 10 games he has been very reliable from there, which is also a factor when betting on this market.

Lakers vs Jazz: Anthony Davis (+460)
Anthony Davis is one of the more reliable players when it comes to winning the opening tip. He is 2-0 against the Jazz, beating Kelly Olynyk on both occasions. His tip win percentage is at 63% this season, so I’m confident he can get the ball first. At +460 odds he is also decently priced to score the opening basket. The Lakers have relied on him quite a lot to do so as he’s 2nd on the team, attempting 33% of their shots. He leads the team with 14 first field goals made, accounting for 29% of their total makes and in the 10 most recent games he has done it twice. Utah’s biggest weakness this year has been defending the interior and the numbers back it up with 27% of first team field goals allowed coming from opposing centers. The Lakers will go only as far as AD takes them this season and with back-to-back performances of 38 and 40 points he’s in really good form to have yet another big game. He went off for 13 points against the Rockets last time out, and we can only hope that momentum carries over to tonight’s game against Utah.
