Wizards vs Magic first basket bet: Bradley Beal (+470)
Kristaps Porzingis is the heavy favorite to win the opening tip tonight against Wendell Carter Jr. He is one of the most reliable players when it comes to winning the opening tip, doing so 75% of the time when he has played this season. He also won the opening tip in both games against the Magic earlier this season, once against Carter Jr. and once against Bol Bol. Bradley Beal to score the first field goal seems like the best option as he has scored his team’s first bucket in 35% of their games, despite being 3rd on the team in percentage of first field-goal attempts at 27%. Orlando doesn’t have the best of defenders at the guard positions this year, with 34% of their first field goals allowed coming from the point guard and shooting guard positions. With Kyle Kuzma out of the lineup, I think going through Beal would be wise if the Wizards want him to have a big game.

Celtics vs Kings first basket bet: Al Horford (+700)
The return of Robert Williams III is great news for all of us betting on Celtics players to score the first basket in tonight’s game against Sacramento. Timelord has been exceptional in winning tips, doing so 74% of the time when he has played. That’s a pretty high number compared to the guy he’s jumping against, Domantas Sabonis, who is at just 33%. These two jumped it up last season and Williams won the tip, so that’s another factor working in our favor. Boston generally goes through its bigs when it’s time to score the first basket with the center and power forward positions scoring the first field goal 45% of the time this season. That works hand in hand with Sacramento allowing the first field goal from those positions at 48% this season. Al Horford missed the previous Celtics game due to lower back stiffness, so if he starts tonight the team will have to get him involved early in order for him to get loose. Over his last 10 games he has scored the first field goal for Boston 3 times. At these odds I think it’s worth backing him for the first basket.
