Zach Plesac made headlines last season when he punched the mound after allowing a home run that sent him to the IL. This season, he’s still trying to find his way in the Guardians’ rotation. In 13 innings pitched, he’s allowed 10 earned runs and has struck out 8 batters; 6 of which came in one start.
His last start was less than encouraging. He allowed 7 hits in 5 innings and failed to reach 80 pitches. The Guardians have no problem pulling Plesac early if his stuff isn’t there, especially with a day off yesterday. The Marlins are more than capable of getting runners on and making noise on the base paths. They rank 9th in all of baseball in stolen bases led by Jazz Chisholm and Jon Berti who both rank in the top 20.
Plesac failed to find the zone last year at home. He stayed under this line in 9 of 11 starts and averaged just under 6 hits allowed. Many MLB player prop bettors looked to fade him whenever he took the mound behind the Cleveland faithful. The Marlins are no stranger to getting struck out, but I’m buying into them putting the ball in play and giving Plesac trouble early.
