Markkanen missed more than a month with injury and has been back for 2 games. He scored 22 points against the Pistons on Thursday and 23 against the Wizards on Saturday. Darius Garland was out for both games and will also sit tonight. Caris LeVert and Rajon Rondo are also out and Markkanen will be relied upon to score. He has taken 16 and 18 shots from the field in the last 2 games. Minnesota allows 112.1 points per game, which is 22nd in the NBA. Minnesota allows the 4th-most points per game to small forwards. Markkanen scored 19 points in 22 minutes against Minnesota in December.

Kyle Lowry is out due to personal reasons and Butler will run the offense more. In 12 games without Lowry this season, Butler is averaging 8.8 assists. The Bulls have been giving up a lot of points lately and allow 24.9 assists per game.
