There are two playoff games on Monday night in the second round of the NBA playoffs. The Miami Heat host the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1 of their series, and the Phoenix Suns play at home against the Dallas Mavericks in the opener of that series. For the season, my record is 98-71-1. Here are my player props picks for tonight.
But before we dive in, be sure to check out all of our NBA playoff coverage.
Tobias Harris over 17.5 points (-125 on DraftKings)
Joel Embiid is out for the first two games of the series against the Heat and Harris will be relied upon more for scoring. Embiid had a 36.9 percent usage rate and averaged 30.6 points per game. Harris has played 9 games without Embiid this season and averaged 19 points per game. This includes games in which Harris played 24, 25 and 27 minutes. The usage rate increased by almost 8 percent. Harris averaged 17.8 points per game in the first round against Atlanta.
Chris Paul over 9.5 assists (-145 on BetMGM)
Paul is a pass-first point guard. With Devin Booker missing a few games due to a hamstring injury in the first round against the Pelicans, Paul had to be more aggressive and take more shots from the field. Booker returned in Game 6 and played 32 minutes. Look for Paul to run a lot of pick-and-rolls with Deandre Ayton and set him up for easy baskets against a Dallas team vulnerable against centers. The Suns point guard averaged 11.3 assists in the first round and went over this total in 5 of 6 games. In the regular season, Paul averaged 10.8 assists and had 11, 14 and 14 assists in the 3 regular season games against the Mavericks.
