Minnesota Timberwolves vs San Antonio Spurs Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 11/02/24
Timberwolves vs Spurs Pickswise Expert Predictions
After a late night, 119-116 comeback win in Minnesota, the Timberwolves will immediately travel south to take on the San Antonio Spurs. The Timberwolves will have their hands full with a Spurs team that has shown they improved over the offseason. Victor Wembanyama is coming of a 5×5 performance on Halloween night against the Jazz. Wembanyama’s final stat line in 34 minutes played was 25 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals, and 5 blocks. He is the fifteenth player all-time to record a 5×5 stat line, and only the third player to have done it in multiple games. Wembanyama will be matched against Anthony Edwards who is off to a fast start this season, averaging 29.8 points per game. Edwards helped lead a 10-0 run to end regulation against the Nuggets, including a go-ahead floater to put the Wolves in front with 30 seconds remaining. Tonight’s matchup between Edwards and Wembanyama will be the two best players under the age of 23 going head-to-head.
I sense that this betting line is a little bit lower due to the Timberwolves traveling into San Antonio for the second game of a back-to-back. I don’t foresee the quick turnaround being too much of a problem for Minnesota. The Timberwolves are a team that shows up each night and competes hard no matter the circumstances. If you take the Timberwolves’ last six games where they are finishing a back-to-back, the point total has gone over the total in all six games. I don’t love the over for this game because the Spurs haven’t shot the basketball that well to start the season. The Spurs are shooting 43% from the field and 32% percent from three, compared to the Timberwolves who have shot 46% from the field and 40% from three. The Spurs will still also be without two of their top scorers, Tre Jones and Devin Vassell. With the four-time defensive player of the year, Rudy Gobert, matched up against Wembanyama, I’m predicting we see the Spurs’ offensive inconsistencies continue.
Timberwolves -3.5 available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
