Miami Heat vs Los Angeles Lakers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Wednesday, 01/15/25

It’s the final game of Miami’s 6-game West coast road trip, and the Heat have gone 3-2 so far after losing their latest game against the Clippers on Monday. Bam Adebayo was dearly missed in that game, as Ivica Zubac grabbed 20 boards for Los Angeles. Bam is once again questionable to play on Wednesday due to a back problem. Tyler Herro is on a heater, he’s scored 32 points in back-to-back games, he might have to do it again if the Heat are without their 2nd best player. Miami does have a positive record in head-to-head meetings having won 5 of the last 6, including a 134-93 demolition in the regular season opener back in early December.

The Lakers pulled a dud in their last game at home against San Antonio. The energy just wasn’t there as LA played for the first time in 7 days, as two of their games goy postponed due to the situation with wildfires in the LA area. A lack of defense on the perimeter is one of the main reasons for this 3-game losing streak, with opponents knocking down almost 40% of their attempts. It’ll be up to Anthony Davis to once again carry the load, he’s had at least 30 in 2 of his last 3 games, but the Lakers aren’t able to capitalize on the big man’s dominance for some reason.

Finishing this road trip on a good note would do wonders for the confidence of this Heat team. It all depends on whether or not Adebayo returns to the line-up. With him they have a threat on the inside, so some of the scoring pressure will come off of Tyler Herro. With the Lakers struggling to defend the three-ball and Miami catching fire with 17 and 19 makes in their last 2 games, I feel like the road team will be able to make a game out of this one.
