Miami Heat
Point Spread Pick
ATL Hawks -2.0(-110)

Facing the Atlanta Hawks might just be what the Miami Heat need right now. They’ve had the upper hand in 11 of the last 15 meetings, while also covering the spread in 4 of their last 5 visits to State Farm Arena. The never ending saga surrounding Jimmy Butler’s potential trade has been a distraction, Butler is expected to miss both games this weekend. Without him Miami is 4-4 SU on the season, but momentum should be on their side here after 6 wins in 9 games overall.

The Hawks have put together a mini 2-game win streak, their win over Chicago on Thursday was an impressive one as they came back from as many as 21 down to win 141-133. Scoring is basically the only thing this team is truly good at, so don’t be surprised if they try to play an up-tempo style vs the Heat. Atlanta has shot 50% or better in their last 2 games, while also connecting on 17 and 18 threes. Sharing the ball is the forte of this team, they average the 3rd highest number of assists per game. But, once again Trae Young is questionable with a heel injury, his status could determine in which direction this games goes.

Miami’s road form is a concern here. Especially with Butler out, I’m not sure if they’ll have enough scoring to keep up with the high paced Hawks in this one. Atlanta is 9-4 SU in their last 13 and 6-1 SU in their last 7 vs East teams. Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt here and back a home win for Atlanta.

Heat vs Hawks Predictions: Hawks -1.5 is available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
