The Miami Heat have put together a good-sized winning streak near the end of the season. They will try to continue their streak of 6 straight wins tonight when they welcome the struggling Memphis Grizzlies. The Heat’s last win was a 124-103 victory on the road against the Boston Celtics. They shot 52% from the field on Wednesday and were led by Tyler Herro, who put up 25 points in the victory. The recent Heat winning streak has come at the right time. Before it they had lost 10 straight games dating from March 5 to March 21. The Grizzlies are on a streak of their own, but it is a 4-game losing skid. They still haven’t won a game under new head coach Tuomas Iisalo, going 0-3 in his first 3 games. To be fair to Iisalo, those were against the Lakers, Celtics and Warriors — but nonetheless he will be looking for his first win as a head coach tonight.

The Grizzlies were able to defeat the Heat handily not too long ago. On March 15, Memphis prevailed 125-91 while shooting 55% from the field. During their losing streak, it has not been offense that has plagued the Grizzlies, but instead it has been a lack of defense. Against Golden State they allowed Steph Curry to run free off of screens — and as a result Curry went 12-20 from 3-point range. Defending the 3-point line will need to be a point of emphasis tonight for Memphis against Miami, a team filled with long-range threats. The Grizzlies have a good opportunity tonight to try and take advantage of the Heat as they come into this game on the second half of a back-to-back. The Heat’s offense has been playing above their season averages in recent games. Over the course of the season, they sit in the bottom 10 of the NBA in points per game. If Memphis can come into this game with a sense of urgency as it tries to avoid the play-in tournament, it should have a good chance to fare relatively well against Miami.
