They’re now half a game back, but with the Bucks having the tie-breaker they now have to finish with the better record to leap over them. They’re in for a tough task on Monday, going to Minnesota for a date with the in-form Timberwolves. To make matters worse Pascal Siakam has been ruled out for personal reasons, his 20.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game will be dearly missed here. It’ll be up to Tyrese Haliburton to work his magic once again, since the all-star break he is putting up 21.9 points and 11.9 assists per game.
Minnesota is in midst of its best basketball played all year long. They just beat the Utah Jazz last night 128-102 for their 8th win in a row, Anthony Edwards went off for 41 points and 5 threes made. Playing their 2nd game in two nights won’t be ideal, but the T’Wolves have a positive record in this scenario having won 7 of 12 games this season. Plus, last night’s game was decided earlier, so only one of the starters logged more than 30 minutes. Bettors have taken advantage of this stretch by Minnesota – the last 6 of 8 games have seen the Timberwolves cover the spread, they’re also 5-1 ATS in 6 home games. Mike Conley is the only player listed as a game-time decision on the injury report due to fatigue.
Siakam has appeared in all 66 games for the Pacers this season, so this will be their first game without him in the line-up. This team has played solid basketball lately, I am not ready to write them off as long as Haliburton is healthy and playing. Minnesota is likely going to come out on top, but due to them playing their 2nd game in less than 24 hours I am leaning slightly towards the Pacers and the spread here.
