Reasoning

The Golden State Warriors will be playing the second game of a back-to-back situation when they visit the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night. Golden State took care of Charlotte 119-101 on Monday for its sixth win in the last 7 contests. New York is also playing well, having won 3 straight at the expense of Philadelphia, Memphis and Miami. With both teams in stellar form and each side a bit of a question mark due to injury factors, it’s hard to have much confidence on any money line or ATS pick. As such, I will look toward the total for my Warriors vs Knicks pick and my best bet is on the under.

Stephen Curry is questionable for the Warriors after tweaking his ankle against the Hornets last night. Curry said he anticipates playing in MSG but also said that he would not risk anything on a back-to-back if it isn’t 100 percent. Gary Payton II is also day-to-day after suffering a nose laceration on Monday. For the Knicks, Karl-Anthony Towns (personal) is questionable. Both of these teams are in the bottom half of the league in pace of play (possessions per game), with Golden State coming in at #16 and New York registering at #23. The Dubs have held 3 of their last 5 opponents to 102 points or fewer and 2 of their last 7 to under the century mark. Meanwhile, the Knicks have gone 6 straight games without scoring more than 114 points in regulation. All things considered, the under looks like the safest play.

OG Anunoby 3+ made threes (+132)

Golden State has improved vastly on the defensive end since they made the trade for Jimmy Butler, but they still have issues guarding the perimeter. Their last 3 opponents have shot 40.6% from downtown against them, and when we see those teams were the Hornets, 76ers and Magic, it is a concern. New York ranks 6th in efficiency from deep this season, making 37.2% of shots, but what makes them even more dangerous is the fact that they have a variety of players who can cause damage from beyond the arc.

One of those threats from downtown is OG Anunoby, who has been lighting it up from distance over his past 10 games. The former Raptor is making 2.8 threes per game during this stretch on an impressive 44.4% efficiency. He’s made at least a pair of threes in 8 of those games, while in his last 2 against Memphis and Miami, he knocked down 4 in each game. It’s hard to ignore this type of consistency, so I’m riding the Anunoby train to kickstart our Warriors vs Knicks Same Game Parlay.

Jimmy Butler over 28.5 points+rebounds+assists (-112)

Playing under the bright lights at Madison Square Garden is another opportunity for the Warriors to send out a clear message to the rest of the NBA that they mean business. With Butler in the lineup, they’ve now won 8 of 9 games and Jimmy Buckets has contributed heavily on both ends of the court. His shot selection has been a tad more conservative over the past 4 games, but that should change at MSG on Tuesday in what could be a high-scoring game.

Steph Curry tweaked his ankle in last night’s win over Charlotte, so if he is not at 100% here then it’ll be up to Butler to carry the offense. In 9 games with the Warriors, Butler is posting 16 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game, and I am confident he can exceed those numbers when facing a Knicks team against which he has averaged 21.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in the last 5 meetings head-to-head.

Josh Hart to record 8+ rebounds (-330)

Only 4 times in his last 20 games has Josh Hart failed to collect 8 rebounds and he is averaging 10.7 per game during that stretch. That type of consistency on the glass is rarely seen these days, especially from a backcourt player. Hart is also on a streak of 3 consecutive games with at least 11 rebounds against Golden State, averaging 13.3 per game. Keeping opponents off the glass is something that the Warriors have struggled to master all season long, as they rank only 21st, allowing 53.1 rebounds per game.

Hart is a player who should log 40+ minutes on more nights than not, which is always good to consider when crafting our Warriors vs Knicks Same Game Parlay. He is likely to match up with Butler here, which should mean he will be a lot closer to the basket as Butler relies mostly on mid-range shots and penetration to get his points. I’m confident Hart can reach his season average here without any issues.
