Mavericks vs Cavaliers Pickswise Expert Predictions
To say that I would suggest proceeding with caution when making any kind of play on this game would be a gross understatement. For obvious reasons, it’s hard to know what to expect from the new-look Dallas Mavericks when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday afternoon. One of the most shocking trades in NBA history occurred late on Saturday night, as Dallas shipped Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis–a transaction that came completely out of nowhere and one that also included the Utah Jazz. Davis, of course, will not be in the Mavericks’ lineup today. Who else will be? Klay Thompson is the only starter without an injury distinction. Kyrie Irving, P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford are all questionable.
I simply can’t trust this current iteration of the Mavericks in any way shape or form against the best team in basketball (at 39-9, Cleveland leads the Oklahoma City by a half-game in the overall standings). The Cavaliers have won 3 in a row overall and boast a 23-2 home record in 2024-25. Their 3 recent victories have all come by at least 19 points, including 2 by 20 or more. Darius Garland (21.8 ppg) has been especially hot, with point totals of 26, 22, 39, 26 and 26 over the past 5 outings.
