Celtics vs 76ers Pickswise Expert Predictions
For the second time this year, the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers will go head-to-head. These teams last played each other on Christmas Day where the 76ers beat the Celtics 118-114 in Boston. Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers in scoring with 33 points and Joel Embiid added 27 points of his own. Maxey will play tonight but the 76ers will be without Embiid and Paul George. Despite the injury concerns, the 76ers have won 4 of their last 5 games. Their only loss in that stretch was last Friday when they fell 137-134 to the Denver Nuggets. Maxey led Philadelphia with 42 points and 9 assists against Denver. The Celtics are currently on a 2-game winning streak. Their last win was a 118-116 victory against the New Orleans Pelicans. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics in scoring with 28 points and Jayson Tatum contributed with 10 assists. Since Christmas Day, Boston has a record of 12-8. While this is a winning record, it is not on par with the same Celtic dominance that we have become accustomed to.
After the loss on Christmas Day to the 76ers, Jayson Tatum told reporters that the 2024-25 Celtics still have a lot of room for improvement. Over a month later, the Celtics are still looking for answers for consistency. We have seen high spreads all season favoring the Celtics. Unlike last season, Boston is not covering these totals enough to justify still backing them. This season, the Celtics have a record against the spread of 19-28-2. They are now traveling to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers who, despite injuries, are surging. Someone to watch in this game is former Celtic, Guerschon Yabusele, who will start tonight for Philadelphia in the spot of Paul George. Yabusele has been a nice addition for Philadelphia, averaging 10.8 points per game this season. Against Denver, he scored 28 points on 70% shooting. Yabusele will need to be a key contributor tonight against his former team.
76ers +11 is available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
