Hawks vs Suns Pickswise Expert Predictions
It’s not often you get to see a player drain a half court heave to win a game, but that’s exactly what Trae Young did in Atlanta’s last game vs the Jazz. Young capped off a 24 point and 20 assist night with a game-winning three as time expired, putting the Hawks back above .500. However, now they have to back it up once again on the road in Phoenix. This match-up has been favorable for the Hawks over the past couple of seasons, with them winning 4 of the last 5 meetings, including their last 2 visits to Footprint Center. However, injuries have slowed the Hawks down a bit lately, Jalen Johnson will be dearly missed at the small forward position here.
The Suns season has hit a new low after a double-digit defeat at Charlotte against the lowly Hornets. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant did their best scoring 39 and 26 points respectively, but the chemistry just isn’t there for Phoenix at the moment. Bradley Beal and Jusuf Nurkic were both sent to the bench over the past 2 games, so far this experiment has yielded a 1-1 record, but it’s too early to tell if it will make any difference. This being a home games and the Hawks not being good on defense are the only two things Suns fans can hang their hat on ahead of Thursday’s game.
Phoenix is a complete mess right now, I know it might be somewhat of a controversial pick but I really believe the Hawks can get something out of this game. Young and co. will be motivated after that win at Utah the other day, they’re hoping to close out the road trip on a high here. Don’t expect a lot of defense, but a close game should be on the cards. I’m taking the road team plus the spread.
