Ohio Bobcats vs Miami (OH) Redhawks Prediction, Odds and Picks for Saturday, 12/07/24

We’ve got a rivalry game on our hands as Ohio looks to avenge its regular season loss against Miami (OH) this time in the MAC championship game. Ever since the 30-20 loss to Miami (OH), the Bobcats have been rolling with five straight ATS wins and some solid offensive production. However, likely Ohio’s worst offensive performance of the season was against this RedHawks’ defense where they opened the game with three straight three-and-outs and tallied only 6 points after 3 quarters. The RedHawks rank 12 in net points per drive defensively and have been solid and limiting scoring opportunities, ranking 23rd in red zone defense. 

I expect this to be a defensive battle on both sides considering the Miami (OH) offense ranks 128th in points per quality possession and 127th in 3rd/4th down success rate. Furthermore, both sides tend to lean on the run game, but both defenses have been incredible against the run in conference play, holding opponents to under 2.8 yards per carry. Aside from the matchup itself, the under is 14-7 since 2006 in conference championship games in which both teams enter the game on extended rest. With all things considered, I’ll take the under.
