Ohio Bobcats vs Kentucky Wildcats Prediction, Odds and Picks for Saturday, 09/21/24

This matchup between the Ohio Bobcats and Kentucky Wildcats is an interesting spot for both teams. For Ohio, playing an SEC squad on the road is essentially their Super Bowl of the season, and I expect the Bobcats to get up for it. On the contrary, Kentucky is in a classic lookahead spot with a G5 conference opponent in town one week before a road matchup with top-5 Ole Miss. I don’t expect the Bobcats to win this one, but they certainly have the tools to cover a 20-point spread. The Wildcats’ offense has struggled to move the ball, scoring only 18 points in their last two games and ranking 98th in EPA per dropback and 116th in RROE. Furthermore, their tempo isn’t built for covering three-possession spreads, ranking 100th in plays per game this season.

The Bobcats are averaging over 200 rushing yards per game and they heavily lean on the run game, which should slow things down in this one making it harder for Kentucky to build a substantial lead. Even one or two scores from the Bobcats could do the trick in this one. Kentucky’s defense has been phenomenal, but I have little to no faith in their offense after their last two games to back them on a 20-point spread. With all things considered, I’m taking Ohio to cover on the road.
