SMU vs Clemson Pickswise Expert Predictions
The SMU Mustangs and the Clemson Tigers will meet on Thursday night in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals. Clemson received the three seed and the double bye to the quarterfinals in the league tournament after going 18-2. SMU is coming off a blowout win against Syracuse in the second round of tournament and will look for their first quad one win here. The Tigers should be well rested in this one compared to SMU, and we expect them to take care of business. The spread for the game is currently Clemson -6 and we expect them to cover that spread.
We like Clemson to cover the spread in this one because they have quietly been one of the best teams in the country despite the ACC having a down year. The Tigers were able to beat the Mustangs by 10 points on the road on February 22nd due to a great shooting day from beyond the arc. Clemson made 14 threes and shot 48.3 percent from deep in game one. We see Clemson having similar success from three again here and that ultimately being the difference in the game. According to KenPom, Clemson is ranked #20 nationally in three-point percentage while SMU is ranked #150 in opposing three-point percentage. Take Clemson to cover the spread on Thursday.
