Oklahoma Sooners - NCAAB
Point Spread PickBest Bet
Oklahoma +6.0(-110)

The Oklahoma Sooners (20-12) won their first SEC Tournament game on Wednesday night in a strong 81-75 win over the Georgia Bulldogs. The Sooners may have solidified their NCAA Tournament case with the win, in which they shot 48% from 3-point range and scored 1.17 points per possession. Jalon Moore and Jeremiah Fears carried the load with 43 combined points and 8 made 3s, while Mohamed Wague added 12 points and 9 rebounds. The Sooners will advance to play the Kentucky Wildcats (21-10) in the second round on Thursday. When these teams met during the regular season, Kentucky escaped Norman with a 83-82 win despite shooting just 30% from the perimeter and losing the rebounding battle. The Cats were led by Otega Oweh’s 28 points, but Jaxson Robinson re-injured himself in that game and is now out for the season.

The Oklahoma offense has been as hot as any in the country of late. The Sooners are in the 98th percentile in offensive rating over their last 5 games, ranking right next to Kentucky at 17th overall in adjusted offensive efficiency since February 15th (Bart Torvik). Moreover, they have averaged nearly 84 points per game in that span, shooting the lights out from everywhere on the floor. Going up against a Kentucky defense that has yielded at least 82 points in 5 consecutive games away from home, I like Oklahoma to continue its hot streak on Thursday night. Due to the injury to Robinson, you could argue the Sooners have the better perimeter offense in this matchup. Duke Miles, Brycen Goodine and Jalon Moore all shoot better than 38% from the 3-point line on at least 90 attempts, and Kobe Elvis and Jeremiah Fears can heat up at any time. Only Koby Brea has a 3-point percentage that high for the Wildcats.

This Oklahoma team is playing with supreme confidence right now, and if Sam Godwin is able to play in any capacity, then I like the Sooners even more. Take the points with Oklahoma, and sprinkle a little on the money line.

Oklahoma vs Kentucky prediction: Oklahoma Sooners +6 (-110) at the time of publishing. Playable to +3.
