The Auburn Tigers are set to face off against the Iowa State Cyclones in Hawaii for the Maui Invitational. Tonight’s matchup is a little unusual as you have 2 powerhouse teams facing off against each other in round one. The Tigers are ranked 4th in the nation while the Cyclones are ranked 5th, and both teams have been very impressive to start the season. As both teams get ready to take the court, there’s one team that has a slight edge in tonight’s matchup, and that’s the Auburn Tigers. Even though both teams are undefeated, I think Auburn has a better resume than the Cyclones, as the Tigers defeated the Houston Cougars back on November 9. Broome will have his work cut out for him tonight as he gets ready to face off against a very tough Iowa State defense. The Cyclones are only allowing 50.7 points per game, putting them in first place in the NCAA. The Tigers rank 19th in the nation in defense, giving up 59.2 points per game, and they were able to limit a powerful Cougars offense to only 69 points. Iowa State will be looking for Curtis Jones to get things going as he averages 15 points per game, with 5.7 rebounds per game. Both teams have multiple double-digit scorers taking the court tonight, but the big difference for me is that Auburn has played a way tougher schedule so far this season compared to Iowa State. Look for Auburn to come into this game amped up and take game one of the Maui Invitational against the Cyclones, making them my best bet of the night.
