Oregon vs Arizona Pickswise Expert Predictions
What an exciting last couple of days it has been, and we have another great matchup ahead of us as the Oregon Ducks get ready to take on the Arizona Wildcats. Oregon had no issues taking care of business against Liberty on Friday, shooting 54.4% from the field. As for the Wildcats, they had a slow start in the first half against Akron, but that’s when things started to click, shooting 56.5% from the field. The Big Ten has been solid in this year’s NCAA Tournament, but I think the Big 12 will prevail and the Wildcats will go marching onto the sweet 16 and here’s why I think that.
According to KenPom, Oregon sits 147th in adjusted tempo and the Wildcats are 55th. The Wildcats love to push the pace, and that could create some problems for the Ducks in this matchup. Arizona will need to move the ball up-and-down in this game and put the pressure on the Ducks to try and slow things down if they want to keep it close. However, the Ducks have done a great job adapting this season and they don’t have any massive defects in their gameplay, so they should be able to throw a few curveballs in there to keep Arizona on their feet. Arizona is averaging 82.2 PPG and giving up 72.2 PPG this season, while the Ducks are scoring just 76.4 PPG and giving up 70.4 PPG. Arizona’s forward Tobe Awaka is averaging 7.8 RPG and will be going up against the Ducks center, Nate Bittle, who’s averaging 7.5 RPG. This is going to be a close matchup, but I think Arizona’s pace is going to tire the Ducks out as the game goes on. Look for Caleb Love and this Wildcats team to roll, covering the spread, making them my best bet of the day.
